L'oggetto nasce per un luogo specifico, il giardino del Lingotto a Torino. Nel luogo, prima che venisse creato il giardino di un Hotel 5 stelle, c'era una fabbrica di automobili. Amaca voleva essere un "monumento commemorativo" in ricordo dei lavoratori del turno di notte che in quello stesso luogo hanno perso molte ore di sonno.

Un modo diverso di vivere la luce. La fonte di luce non è qualcosa da cui tenersi a distanza per la fragilità e la pericolosità dei materiali ma può essere un oggetto morbido, flessibile, accogliente che invita il corpo a stendersi a lasciarsi andare, a sognare.

The light source should not be something dangerous and fragile, something one is afraid to touch because of the heat or the risk of electric shock. It should be a friendly object, that one wants to approach and touch, and one can look directly without the lampshades normally used as a protection from glare.

Resting on a shining object combines the familiar experience of relaxation with the unusual feeling of being surrounded by the light. This "light experience" is evocative of the deep intuition of the luminous quality of the essence of man and everything. In all spiritual traditions it is said that light is our true home, from which we was born and to which we shall return. In Hinduism and Buddhism the ultimate realization of man is called "enlightenment". In our secularized epoch there is a growing need of objects and environments endowed with a meditative quality, to compensate for the loss of appeal of institutional religions. Lucifera is such an object.
